dream-wheelsThis is a gutsy contemporary Western about two devastated young men. Joe Willie is a cowboy broken mentally and physically after a bull riding accident. Aiden is an inner-city tough guy destined for a short and violent life.

This story includes prison stints and domestic violence. When the two opposing characters spend time together on a cattle ranch to mend, their initial hatred for each other eventually turns to respect as they find common ground while fixing a dilapidated ranch truck known as “Dream Wheels.” Constant changes in point of view make it hard for the reader to find a hero, but it’s nevertheless an entertaining read. —Phyllis Morreale-de la Garza
