“No message, no agenda, no nothin,’ just a little bunch of songs I’ve always liked.”
That’s what Don Edwards says about this record, and his comfort with the material is obvious and contagious. There’s a couple of Jimmie Rodgers pieces, a version of W.C. Handy’s “St. Louis Blues” and even a nice take on the old standard “My Blue Heaven.” Edwards’ voice is smoother than ever. And if there was ever any doubt, this CD proves that he’s ably filling the big boots of his idol, Gene Autry, as the voice of Country and Western.
