Freedom’s Frontier includes eastern Kansas and western Missouri counties that played a major part in the bloody Border War and later in the Civil War. We were dining in Lawrence, Kansas, where William Clarke Quantrill and his Confederate guerrillas had murdered between 150 and 200 men and boys and left the town in ruins. B
