Was Buffalo Bill awarded the Medal of Honor?

John Edwards
Springfield, Missouri

Buffalo Bill Cody was awarded the Medal of Honor for a battle fought against Indians in 1872. The medal was taken from him in 1916, however, on the grounds that he was a civilian. It was posthumously restored to him in 1989.
