Mel (Del Zamora) and Fred (Ed Pansullo) have it in for Fritz Frobisher (Sy Richardson) who they’ve never forgiven for his unkind efforts to make the two kids emote years before in their only movie Buffalo Bill vs. Doc Holliday. When they discover Monument Valley is screening the film, they head out on a road trip with Mel’s daughter Delilah (Jaclyn Jonet) to avenge their humiliation.
That’s the plot of Searchers 2.0, directed by Alex Cox, an authority on Spaghetti Westerns who offered commentary on the recent IFC documentary The Spaghetti West. Reviews of Searchers 2.0 have been mixed from the screening at the recent Venice Film Festival, but so far, it’s been complimented for its humor. The picture sounds perfect for fans who enjoy their Westerns with an Indie twist.
