How often can you find Doc Holliday, Quanah Parker and John Wilkes Booth in the same story?

In The Legend of Hell’s Gate, actor, director and writer Tanner Beard has pulled all of these characters together in a crazy quilt movie inspired by Beard’s investigations of the dam to create Possum Kingdom Lake in the late 1930s in Palo Pinto County, Texas.

Beard cast some top talent in major and minor roles, like ET’s Henry Thomas as Booth, Jim Beaver, Buck Taylor, Firefly’s Summer Glau and John Wayne’s grandson Brendan, who is also in this summer’s Cowboys & Aliens.

The Legend of Hell’s Gate is making the festival rounds at this time, but Beard assures me the picture will get a theatrical release, followed by a DVD, later this year. Search for the film on YouTube.com to watch the trailer.
