Valles Caldera: A Vision for New Mexico’s National Preserve

Beyond either side of Interstate I-25, which runs north and south through the center of New Mexico, many natural wonders await the curious. I know, I’ve been there, but I could never begin to capture the magic of Valles Caldera as have authors DeBuys and Usner.

Located nearly in the center of New Mexico, just west of Santa Fe, this natural wonderland is now a National Preserve. DeBuys and Usner recount the history of the area and eloquently describe the beauty of the preserve.
