folliard-blogIt was a hard end for Billy the Kid pal Tom Folliard on December 19, 1880.

Pat Garrett and posse ambushed the gang that evening at Fort Sumner, NM, but Folliard was the only one shot—Garrett put a fatal bullet into his left side.

Folliard reportedly cried out that he was killed and not to shoot anymore.  Deputy Barney Mason then told Tom to “take your medicine.”  Folliard died in agony less than an hour later.  The outlaw was buried at Fort Sumner; he, Charlie Bowdre and the Kid share a marker.
