Summer Reading: Give Your Heart to a Classic

Western author Win Blevins will receive the Owen Wister Award for Lifetime Contributions to Western Literature at the Western Writers of America conference in Lubbock, Texas on June 27, 2015. Blevins just published his most recent book, The Darkness Rolling, a mystery co-written with his wife Meredith Blevins, based in Monument Valley and his beloved Four Corners region of the American Southwest, a modern Western I highly recommend. But, if you are building your reading list for the summer from Blevins opus of work, and you haven’t read his first, or haven’t read it in years, I recommend you start with Give Your Heart to the Hawks: A Tribute to the Mountain Men (Forge). I promise that Blevins prose is so rich and enchanting that you will soon believe you are hiking along side the adventurous band of mountain men who tramped across North America over 175 years ago in search of their fortune and freedom in the American West.
