Emmett Dalton was in trouble, in a Coffeyville, KS doctor’s office with more than 20 wounds after his gang attempted to rob two banks on October 5, 1892. And a mob was trying to get in to lynch him.
One of them asked Dr. Walter Wells if Dalton was going to live—and Wells basically told him “have you ever known one of my patients to survive?” The crowd dispersed. Wells worked his magic on Dalton, who did make it and then served 14 years of hard time.
