Oftentimes, when older Westerns depict wagons or stagecoaches, only one set of wheel tracks are shown. Why is that?

It probably means they got the shot in one take. You can imagine what a real street looked like in the Old West, but in those old films, Hollywood sanitized the set. Groundskeepers manicured the streets for each take. That’s why you never saw horse poop or any other debris lying on the street. There were plenty of other things, too—have you noticed that wandering cowboys never packed around a change of clothes, yet they wore different outfits in the film? Or they never reloaded their six-guns or lost their hats in a fight? Or they had no visible means of support, yet they always had money to spend? The list goes on but keep in mind, that was a different time, and films about the West were a wonderful fantasy for millions of kids, including this one.
