Bill Standifer and Pink Higgins were both from Lampasas, TX. Both were noted gunmen in their 50s—and they didn’t have much use for one another. That dislike came to a head on October 4, 1903 when Standifer (top row, far left) rode out to Higgins ranch. Pink met him on horseback and both pulled rifles.  Standifer’s first shot took down Higgins’ horse.  Higgins returned fire, eventually killing Standifer.
