Banker Andrew Trew Blachly was murdered during a holdup in Delta, CO in 1893. Such deaths often destroyed families—but not his.
His widow Dellie used her smarts, her dedication and her faith to raise their eight sons. Through good planning and frugal ways, all of the Blachly boys went on to college. One became a physician, two were noted economists, four were prosperous ranchers and another a federal official.
Dellie Blachly was a strong woman who shouldered a big load—and lived to see the fruits of the labors before her death in 1926.
