Can you recommend a reference book on firearms of the Old West?

Guns of the Old West by Charles Edward Chapel is one I keep on my shelf for reference.  For years, I’ve also consulted The Look of the Old West by William Foster-Harris, a treasure chest of information, not just about weapons but a myriad of subjects. Try bookfinder.com if you have trouble finding the books.

The history of firearms from the 1800s to the early 1900s is a fascinating study. I find it amazing that men like Smith, Wesson, Henry, Winchester, Colt and Remington were contemporaries, designing weapons that have changed very little over time.
