A bottle of a mustard­ pickle relish! In his autobiography, noted western surveyer Billy Owen wrote that restaurant tables in his day included “the ever­present bottle of Crosse & Blackwell's Chow Chow.” The chow chow was imported from England and is still popular to this day.
