Texas Chili

With the National Football League’s Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers ready to square off against each other for the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday February 7, 2016, I find it appropriate to recommend Judy Alter’s Texas is Chili Country: A Brief History with Recipes as a must-have cookbook for the big day. Chili is a staple of Lone Star life, so much so, it is the official Texas state meal. So, while the game is being played in Santa Clara, California, between teams from Colorado and North Carolina, (it has been 20 years since the Cowboys won the big game) Alter’s anecdote filled story of the staple of round-ups and tailgates, with plenty of mouth-watering recipes should bring a little bit of Texas to your Super Bowl Party. Bon Appetite!
