The typesetting is quirky, the illustrations are cartoonish and yet this book is a hoot! A brief history of rodeo events, including bulldogging, barrel racing and steer roping, is recounted by author Ernie Bulow. His experiences growing up wrangling horses led him to participate in many competing rodeo events. While a fun read, the detailed description of each rodeo event nearly puts the reader in the saddle. Navajo artist Ernest Franklin, who has illustrated some of Tony Hillerman’s novels, has created watercolors for this book that are worthy of hanging on your wall. Uncle Ernie has given us a fun coffee table book.
