Handsome Vin Lockhart is a Denver businessman, who, as a child, was taken captive by the Oglala Sioux.
Treated well by his captors, he grew up to become one of them. After a Shoshoni war party murdered his Indian wife, Vin nursed his broken heart by returning to civilization. While he successfully makes the transition, his thoughts frequently return to his Indian family, particularly to Morning Bird, the younger sister of his deceased wife. With political trouble brewing over Custer’s defeat at the Little Bighorn, Vin rides “home” to the hills in time to rescue his love interest from life on a reservation. When Vin single-handedly kills a dozen Cheyenne dog soldiers, the story becomes somewhat comical. Nevertheless, it’s worth the read.
