Legend says they tied their horses to it when they tried to rob two banks at once in 1892. That was in Death Alley, where a couple of them were killed. Not true.  Photos show they tied the horses to a wooden fence. Reportedly, the pipe was just scrap from the alley—and that it was placed at the gravesite as a sign of disrespect. As if the lead in the bodies wasn’t disrespectful enough…
