What’s the tie between a legendary Scottish castle and an Old West outlaw?
Doune Castle, in central Scotland, dates back to the 14th century. It’s gained recent fame as Swamp Castle/Castle Anthrax/Camelot in the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It’s also been seen in the TV shows Game of Thrones and Outlander.
In 1825, the castle custodian was Daniel Sinclair. His great grandson was Robert Leroy Parker—AKA Wild Bunch leader Butch Cassidy. As far as we know, the only castle Butch knew was Castle Gate, UT, where he pulled a robbery in 1897.
