So what caused Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday to split up—as friends and Vendetta Ride colleagues—in 1882? In a 1940 letter, former New Mexico governor Miguel Otero suggested it was because Doc accused Earp of becoming a “Jew boy.”  Earp was seeing a Jewish woman, Sarah Josephine Marcus, and staying with prominent Albuquerque businessman Henry Jaffa, who was also a Jew.  Otero said Earp became angry with Holliday and left.
