On August 30, 1882, a couple of masked robbers found a way to maximize their efforts. They held up the Black Canyon stagecoach that was traveling between Phoenix and Prescott. Another stagecoach was headed in the opposite direction at the same time, so the bandits held it up as well.
A total of up to 10 passengers were made to disembark and shell out. And while one of the outlaws held everyone at bay, the other opened both Wells Fargo boxes. The two men got away clean. The exact haul was never reported.
