heavenislongDuring an earlier episode in this “Rendezvous” series, Mountain Man Sam Morgan married a Crow Indian girl in Wyoming against her family’s wishes. In California, she died in childbirth.

Now, two years later, Sam is determined to take the child back to her Indian relatives in Wyoming. After exposing her to a series of dangerous wilderness adventures, he presents this innocent toddler to her aged Crow grandparents who are barely surviving amid the harsh elements in their village. Even knowing warring Blackfeet lurk nearby, Sam incredibly leaves the child behind but promises himself he will return one day to take her back. Let’s hope this is the last we hear of Sam who seems more concerned about his pet coyote than he is about his own daughter. —Phyllis Morreale-de la Garza
