cash stashJesse West and Joe Allen are best known for hiring Jim Miller to kill Gus Bobbitt in Ada, OK in 1909.  The three, along with B.B. Burrell, were lynched (see photo).

Allen and West reportedly stashed some money outside of town prior to their arrest, intending to use it for business purposes (legitimate, perhaps).

When the two men were arrested, they realized they likely faced vigilante nooses, so they told two ranch hands where to find the treasure.  The cowboys recovered the money and, reportedly, bought a sizable spread.
