Top 10 Western Museums of 2010

8. Boot Hill Museum (Dodge City, Kansas)

Any museum that sponsors an annual “Testicle Festival” has to be honored. As part of Dodge City Days, the Bull Fry and Bash serves up
Rocky Mountain oysters each July.
Yet there’s more going on down reconstructed Front Street than just can-can dancers and calf fries. In July of last year, the First Union Church was dedicated, a new reconstruction that shows the transformation of Dodge City from wild and woolly burg to permanent, civilized town. The cowtown’s peace officers Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson were deacons of the original interdenominational church, built in 1874 or ’75.
