juan-patron-blogDecember 20, 1873.  The Horrell brothers wanted revenge for the killing of their brother Ben.  So they and some 20 others attacked a Mexican wedding party in Lincoln, NM.

Their target, Juan Patron, wasn’t there.  But the gunmen killed four others, including Patron’s father, and wounded three more.

New Mexico authorities went after the Horrells, but the family headed back to their native Texas by February of 1874.  The respite was only temporary.  Three of the Horrells later died violently.
