9. National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)

Here’s a place that has it all: cowboys (rodeo, working, historic), Indians, art, firearms. You name it, and it’s here, including Prix de West, one of the most prestigious contemporary art shows in the West. The museum has always honored Western music, so last year, music historian Don Cusic curated “The Guitar: Art, Artists and Artisans,” which chronicled the instrument as a work of art, from a circa 1845 C.F. Martin to guitars played by Eddy Arnold and Marty Robbins.
