Perry Mallon was a con-artist, a liar and a fake.  And he nearly brought down Doc Holliday. In May 1881, Mallon “arrested” Doc in a Denver establishment.  Mallon variously claimed to be a lawman or bounty hunter or avenger of a dead friend; he was looking for the reward to return Doc to Arizona to face charges in the so-called Vendetta Ride.
