Some have called Grant County (NM) Deputy Sheriff Dan Tucker “Dangerous Dan.” And his gun notches are estimated at somewhere in the double digits.

In 1882, Tucker went to a brothel in Deming. Two women threw their arms around him while a man pulled his gun, ready to shoot the lawman. Tucker pulled himself from the women and grabbed the guy—whose weapon fired twice, hitting one of the women and Tucker, in the shoulder. A group of citizens, hearing the commotion, ran in and saved the deputy in the nick of time.
