Joe Medicine Crow
Since 1948, Joe Medicine Crow (whose Crow name is Bako Dagak, or High Bird) has served as the official tribal historian on the Crow Reservation in Montana where he was born on October 27, 1913. — Images courtesy Chris Kortlander —
Dr. Joe Medicine Crow died on Sunday in Montana.  He was an amazing man–a medicine man, a war chief, a leader, a WWII vet and hero, a teacher, a historian.  And at 103 years of age, he was the last living link to the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
This was a True West piece from 2009, when he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  http://www.truewestmagazine.com/the-last-link-to-the-little-bighorn/
Joe Medicine Crow was a treasure.
