David Trousdale was a nondescript Wells Fargo express messenger on a Southern Pacific train.  March 14, 1912, made him a celebrity. That’s when outlaws Ben Kilpatrick and Ole Hobeck tried to hold up that train around Sanderson, TX.  They got into the express safe but then they got careless.  Trousdale brained former Wild Bunch rider Kilpatrick with an ice mallet, then shot Hobeck to death. Trousdale is the short man with the cap in the left of the photo, holding up the body of Kilpatrick
