atascocitagoldTwo happily unemployed cowpokes are unfairly arrested after a card game inside a Kansas saloon. Given the choice between jail or helping an old man whose freight business is in jeopardy, our heroes choose the latter.

But disaster comes from so many directions, they soon wish they’d chosen jail. Barn fires, runaway mules, Mexican bandits, killer Kiowas, blazing six-guns, whizzing pitchforks and a spoiled young woman are only the beginning. A thousand gold double eagles hidden in the root cellar and two dead brothers await the young lady, and our cowpokes, back at her ranch. Needless to say, the cache attracts a multitude of owl hoots and jaspers all throwing plenty of lead. If you like non-stop shoot ’em up action reminiscent of the old B-Westerns, this book is for you.  —Phyllis Morreale-de la Garza
