In a typical Westerns saloon scene, most patrons wear hats. Wouldn’t hats be removed upon entering?

Saloons were social gathering places for men only, and they usually kept their hats on. Most photographs of men in saloons show them wearing hats.

Hats were as much a part of a man’s attire as his boots. With the exception of high-class gentlemen’s clubs, men kept their headgear on in saloon.
