At the height of the silver boom in 1887, pharmacist-turned-hotel entrepreneur Henry Strater, with the assistance of his family, built the elegant Strater Hotel in Durango, Colorado. The hotel quickly gained a reputation as one of the most elegant in the West. The Strater Hotel is home to the Durango Melodrama & Vaudeville, Henry Strater Theatre, Diamond Belle Saloon and Mahogany Grille. — Photo courtesy of The Strater Hotel
