Sam Mason was a robber and killer in post-Revolution America, roaming the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers with a gang of cutthroats.  Mason was one of the worst—and he got what he gave. Mason escaped custody after being arrested in southeastern Missouri in 1803.  Soon after, two men—looking to collect the reward—brought Mason’s head to authorities in Mississippi.  As they were accepting congratulations, somebody in the crowd identified one of the bounty hunters as serial killer Wiley H
