The history of the Texas Rangers is the story of real people surrounded by the legends and the legacies of that historic organization. In Texas Rangers: Lives, Legend, And Legacy (University of North Texas Press, $34.95) Bob Alexander and Donaly E. Brice tell the story in a well-researched fashion.
Of particular interest is the section that covers the history of the Frontier Battalion, its various companies, leaders, men and adventures. In those days, the Rangers weren’t living the legend, they were creating the legend.
This book is a welcome addition to the lore of the Texas Rangers.
