Frank Reno
Frank Reno of the Reno Gang

The Reno Gang grabbed $97,000 in a May 1868 train holdup near Marshfield, Indiana. But what happened to the money?

Almost all the robbers were dead by the end of the year—but none were found with large amounts of cash. Local haunts around Seymour, Indiana were searched, and gang relatives were questioned for years. Psychics were called in. Tips were investigated, and dozens of sites in Indiana and Illinois were dug up. All of that continued for more than 50 years.

None of the money was ever discovered.
