Bob Dozier was a successful farmer before—for whatever reason—he turned to crime in
the Indian Territory.
He delved into various and sundry activities: rustling and horse theft, robbery, land swindles, and murder.
For seven years, the outlaw stayed just out of reach of the deputy US marshals overseen by Judge Isaac Parker. Until Bass Reeves took over. The famed lawman tracked Dozier into the Cherokee Hills and finally caught him On December 20, 1878. Reeves killed the hard
case after a fierce gun battle. Reeves said it was the highlight of his career.
